CBG possesses strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties

Enecta, the characteristics of CBG and the differences with CBD!

Cannabigerol, known as CBG, is a phytocannabinoid which, unlike THC, and just like CBD, isn’t psychotropic.

CBG was identified for the first time in 1964 by the scientist Y.Gaoni, and is composed of cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), one of the first cannabinoids formed in the cannabis plant. In this article we will try and summarize the principal features of CBG and its main differences with CBD.

CBG, which are the characteristics of Cannabigerol?

Anxiety and Tension: CBG inhibits the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), thus capable of diminishing anxiety states and reducing muscular tension, which can be associated with various reasons/pathologies. An action similar to that performed by Cannabidiol.

Glaucoma: In the past we talked about the therapeutic potentials of CBD with regards to this  pathology, in the same manner CBG contributes to the reduction of intraocular pressure, increasing the drainage of the eye.

Inflammatory intestinal diseases: CBG possesses strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties beneficial in case of inflammatory intestinal diseases like Crohn’s Disease and also in this context we already talked about the contribution of CBD as well.

Antidepressant: Science asserts how CBG has got antidepressant properties with potentially painkilling effects as well.

Anti-nausea and anti-emetic: Preclinical Studies demonstrate how CBG can have anti-nausea and anti-emetic effects.
These are some of the properties attributed to Cannabigerol; following we will take a look at the differences with  Cannabidiol.

CBD and CBG, which are the differences?

CBD and CBG are two completely different cannabinoids contained inside cannabis plants, they have very different chemical structures and concentrations.

Before mentioning the differences, it is necessary to point out how Cannabidiol and Cannabigerol have the capability in common to be effective, due to their analgesic properties, in contrasting skin disorders, like Psoriasis, bone metabolic disorders and disorders of the central nervous system.

The main differences can be found in the capability of CBG, unlike CBD, to operate as an anti-asthmatic, gives support in the antibacterial activity against ‘Staphylococcus aureus” and in the treatment of disorders in the urinary system.

CBD instead, unlike CBG, has the capability to be anticonvulsant, myorelaxant, antioxidant and antipsychotic.
