A safe oil of Premium quality.

The Premium Hemp oil for pets Enecta, is produced from a type of Cannabis Sativa L. plant, rich in Phytocannabinoids, and with a THC percentage close to zero (equal or less than 0.2%, as per CE legislation n. 1782/2003) It’s a certificated Cannabis type and it’s cultivated in Italy on selected fields, chosen as per Guidelines on Good Agricultural and Collection Practice (GACP), without pesticides or herbicides, maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

The farming follows the legislation n.242/2016 “Dispositions for the promotion of the farming and the agro-industrial supply chain for hemp”.

We test our products in independent laboratories to ensure the quality of our products.

The raw material (hemp) is monitored as per parameters reserved to medicinal plants (i.e. pesticides and heavy metals). Apart from the nutritional information and the monitoring of the plant components, we test both the olive oil and the hemp oil ash, that we always maintain low to guarantee safety for the pet and the use of fresh products only.

Why choose it

  • A product easy to administer, by merely adding it to your cat or dog’s meal, or
by giving it directly thanks to the “anti-bite” dropper
  • A safe and effective product, as tested on heavy metals, pesticides and safe
due to the lack of THC.

All thanks to the endocannabinoid system
The endocannabinoid system is a complex biological system involved in neurological connections, common in all the animals (apart from insects). Its primary purpose is to regulate and maintain our body functions and keep them balanced.

The endocannabinoid system is involved in the below situations:

  • Immune response: It affects the immune system by inflammatory regulation against pathogens.

  • Maintenance of skin homeostasis

  • Bone metabolism: Control of bone growth and reshaping, diminishing of the bone loss.

  • Pain perception: Modulation of pain development and control of acute pain.

  • Several biological and physiological functions, such as energy regulation and the endocrine system (correlated to obesity and cardiovascular diseases), or the modulation of the anxiety related to stressful situations.

Mood, appetite, pain response, are all regulated by the endocannabinoid system, that interacts with Phytocannabinoids, naturally available in hemp.

Dosage
To use hemp oil is advised reading the instruction available on the box. It’s recommended to start with a small dose and increase it until the desired results.
It’s suggested to ask for advice to the Vet, that will recommend the right therapy depending on the circumstance.

VEGETABLE OILS AND FATS:

Linseed oil and olive oil

They’re added to the recipe to make the product tastier (They increase savouriness, essential for the meal) and easily digestible (they mix with gastric acids and have cholecystokinetic properties) they are important as functional ingredients, as they’re rich in bioactive compounds.
Olive oil is considered one of the main ingredients responsible for the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. Its essentials fatty acids reduce the inflammatory markers (such as C-reactive protein, Interleukin-6 and tumour necrosis factor TNF- α, helping in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and excessive weight gain (monounsaturated fats in olive oil helps to fight the fat inside adipose cells and helps to reduce cholesterol levels, aiding with the metabolism of fat and proteins). Moreover, they help with joint and muscle functions and strengthen the immune system (thanks to antioxidants such as polyphenols, carotenoids and Vitamin E, essential aid against the free radicals).

Hemp oil – Phytocannabinoids, carotenoids, and flavonoids

Hemp oil, obtained by the Cannabis Sativa L. plant, doesn’t contain psychoactive properties as the raw material doesn’t contain THC (Psychotropic molecule). The oil contains natural Phyto-complexes made of Phytocannabinoids (exogen cannabinoids), carotenoids, and flavonoids. The interaction between those compounds causes an increased effect compared to the impact of each one of them summed up (entourage effect: each element participates in the final effect caused by oil consumption with a consequently higher biological activity).
The three main groups of molecules (Phytocannabinoids, carotenoids and flavonoids) have strong anti-inflammatory properties: they increase the production of Interleukin-10 (that has anti-inflammatory properties), and they reduce the production of pro-inflammatory molecules ( i.e., cytokines and TNF- alfa). Carotenoids bind prostaglandin receptors, aiding the anti-inflammatory effect of the Phyto-complex.
Hemp oil helps against free radical production (i.e. reactive oxygen species – ROS, known to cause damaging effects for the body) thanks to its antioxidant properties (majorly caused by flavonoids) and neuroprotective properties (useful in reducing neural degeneration and to stimulate the cognitive activity of the animal)
Besides, hemp oil is known for its nutraceutical properties, as highly rich in essential fatty acids (especially y-linoleic acid and stearidonic acid), with a perfectly balanced content of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, equivalent to 3:1, perfect for a healthy diet.
The balance of unsaturated fats, phytosterol content, tocopherols, vitamins, and minerals, helps to maintain healthy skin, healthy cholesterol and blood glucose levels, aid muscle and joint functions (assisting with the mobility of the animal) and support the immune system. Hemp oil can also contribute to reducing articular pain and reducing stress levels (due to the calming effect caused by the plant’s Phyto-complex).
Hemp oil has no contraindications for the animal’s health; it’s safe for small and big size pets.

OMEGA-3 and OMEGA-6

Omega-3 and Omega-6 are polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Omega-3 fatty acids, also named fatty acids ω-3 or n -3, are polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) made of a double bond distanced three atoms from the terminal methyl group in their chemical composition. They’re widely available in nature, as they’re essential components of the animal’s lipidic metabolism. The three types of Omega-3 acids are the alfa-linoleic acid (ALA, defined “essential fatty acid”, as the animals, including cats and dogs don’t produce it naturally and they must get it from their diet), available in vegetable oils, and the Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), Docosanol acid (DHA) (these defined as “essentials”).
Omega-6 fatty acids, also called n-6 or ω−6 fatty acids, are polyunsaturated fatty acids of vegetable origins, having the first double bond C=C on the sixth Carbon atom counting from the end of the fatty acid, where the last atom is defined Carbon ω (omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet). Linoleic acid (18:2), the Omega-6 with a shorter chain, is an essential fatty acid.
Omega-3 acids have a structural role (incorporated in the cellular membrane), anti-inflammatory and anticlotting properties, and they help reduce excess triglycerides. It has a protective action on the cardiovascular and the cerebral system and improves cerebral functions. Studies on animals, shown that Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids reduced inflammatory markers levels with reduced pain perception (useful in case of acute or chronic inflammation), cartilage degradation and oxidative stress; Omega-3 reduces the production of eicosanoids (prostaglandin, thromboxane, leukotrienes, and related metabolites), interleukins and other molecules involved in inflammatory reactions between leukocytes and endothelial cells. This is extremely useful to reduce inflammation and inappropriate immune responses (autoimmune diseases and inflammatory diseases).
Omega-3 is helpful to reduce itchiness and inflammation, by reducing the dryness of the skin, making it stronger and making the coat look shinier. It helps in strengthening the immune system and reducing the damage of the cartilage, the skin epithelium, and the intestinal epithelium.
Omega-6 fatty acids are essential as they’re precursors of keratinocytes (found in the skin) that have a protective function for the whole organism and the cellular membranes because they’re precursor of phospholipids that make the cellular membrane.
Furthermore, from Arachidonic Acid, a derivate of Linoleic Acid, there is the production of eicosanoids ( such as prostaglandin, prostacyclin, thromboxane and leukotriene), crucial molecules when it comes to inflammation, that is an important defensive process when not excessive or not useful for the organism(i.e. to fight infections or to heal wounds).
When we refer to Omega-3 and Omega-6, it’s essential to consider the interaction between them, rather than single quantities: a ratio of 3:1 of Omega-6 and Omega-3 is perfect to balance their powerful effects.

Natural Tocopherols (vitamin E)

It’s a class of organic chemicals (α- β- γ- e δ-tocopherols), part of the Vitamin E group along with Tocotrienols. They’re potent antioxidants with protective action against oxidative stress (causes of pathologies), and they have significant immunomodulant effects.
All the tocopherols are strong antioxidants, able to eliminate lipid peroxyl radicals (they reduce the production of reactive oxidative species, ROS, and nitrogen, RNS, reducing the lipidic peroxidation), they inhibit the eicosanoids (pro-inflammatory molecules) catalysed by cyclooxygenase e 5-lipoxygenase (respectively COX a 5-LOX, a key target in anti-inflammatory therapy), they suppress the pro-inflammatory signals such as NF-Kb and STAT3/6 (signal transducer and activator of the pro-inflammatory transcription)
Studies on animals and humans have shown that Tocopherols can help to fight against diseases related to inflammation, and that improve immune response in animal and human models, giving protection against several infectious diseases.
Vitamin E has significant immunomodulatory effects, shown in animal and human models; in fact, it can inhibit the protein kinase C activity (PCK, therefore reducing platelet aggregation), it can reduce monocytes, macrophages and neutrophils proliferation and in the meantime increasing the production of lymphocytes, immunoglobulins, antibodies response, natural killer cells activity (NK) and production of
Interleukin 2 (IL-2), improving the immune responses and giving a higher resistance against pathogens.
Tocopherols are essential to protect cellular membranes and collagen, improving blood flow by inducing red cells proliferation (therefore, improving oxygen levels in the tissues), they help with damaged tissue reparation and skin hydration and support the phospholipid membrane.

Raw ashes

It’s the inorganic material obtained after the combustion of the product; the lower is its level, the lower is the amount of waste material of the product. It’s a parameter of good quality (depending on the type of food as it differs between meat, vegetable, or fish). It’s usually around 5%, Enecta has a concentration lower than 0.5%.
