How to make Cannabidiol tea

Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid with a very similar structure to THC. It has one big advantage over THC. It doesn’t make you feel high, but it still acts on the endocannabinoid system. There are as many ways to get Cannabidiol into the system as there are for THC. It can be used in edibles, it can be vaped, and of course, you can enjoy a cup of cannabidiol tea.

The simplest way to make any tea is to add dry or fresh plant material to hot water, but the heat produced by boiling water doesn’t extract the cannabinoids. Instead, it extracts the terpenes. They’re still good for you.

Terpenes are believed to have an effect on pain, inflammation and depression, but if you want to get cannabinoids out of plant material, you need to follow a rather more complex process. There is also a “Cheat” shortcut, but first we’ll take a closer look at the full process.

Recipes for cannabidiol tea

Cannabinoids occur in two forms. THCa and CBDa are the natural forms found in plant material. To activate them, they need to be heated, and a quick dose of boiling water isn’t enough. A process known as “decarboxylation” needs to take place, transforming the cannabinoids into a new form. THCa becomes THC, and CBDa becomes CBD. First, the material is heated a little for a short while. Then, the temperature is raised to 115 C and held there for at least an hour.

To get the cannabinoids from the material after this process, alcohol or a fatty substance such as butter or coconut oil is needed. A high fat tea such as a chai latte will do the trick, or cannabutter can be made and added to the tea.

What if you don’t like buttery tea?

Not everybody likes the taste of fatty or buttery tea. Others feel that going through the whole process is too time-consuming, but there is a simple alternative. A cannabidiol oil can be added to the tea, and all that you need is a few drops to turn regular tea into cannabidiol tea. As recipes go, that has to be one of the easiest ones in the world.

Tea is a relaxing drink to begin with. Cannabidiol adds to that effect, making a healthy, tasty drink that really soothes and relaxes you. Have you tried cannabidiol tea yet?
