The future and application of CBD in the world of sports

The application of CBD in the field of sports is ever more appealing for those who operate in the cannabis sector, cannabidiol is assuming an important role in the treatment of pain, as its use by many professional athletes testifies.

CBD and Sports: it is not a prohibited substance 

The World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) from February 1st, 2018 has officially removed cannabidiol (CBD) from the list of prohibited substances, opening new opportunities for athletes. 

Cannabidiol in the championship of ex-NBA stars 

From last June the professional basketball league 3 on 3, BIG3, has announced that it will be allowed to its athletes to use CBD to contrast pain and favour recovery.

CBD and NFL 

An article published in the Washington Post tells how football players are amongst the most sincere advocates of CBD use for contrasting pain and sports injuries: "No other professional sport has got so many supporters of the medical varieties of marijuana, but once again, no other sports is so closely linked to pain and injuries". 


Frank Mir is a professional athlete of mixed martial arts and competes in the UFC, Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Pain is almost a constant for high-level athletes engaged in combat sports. 
Ex- heavyweight UFC champion, currently retaining the record for the major part of the combats, victories and submissions in the story of UFC heavyweights.  

Through the years Mir managed pain using painkillers in a precise dosage, as an excess could raise the level of liver enzymes with consequences for the health of the liver . 

Mir has changed the management of his pain when he started using CBD. 
"At first I was sceptic – the ex- heavyweight champion states – but after about two weeks I felt as if I were getting out of bed more easily. No miracle cure exists, but if you seriously take CBD every day, you will note the decrease of inflammation and sleep better ".
